“For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle, He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; therefore, I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord” (Psalm 27:5-6).

Continuing in the presence of God is making a conscious effort to live with God. It is based on understanding that God watches over us. My brothers and sisters in the Lord, we need to have the presence of the Lord in our lives, you will find it a wonderful experience. To have a complete Christian life, it is essential in our everyday life. Looking at Psalm 51:11, David prays “Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.” The Psalmist is trying to say that if at all God wants to take every other thing from him, He can, but God should allow him to always be in His Presence.

Why do we need the presence of God always?

In this present day, most of us as Christians are not conscious of the presence of God. We need to have the presence of the Lord in our lives; it is a wonderful experience. It is essential in our everyday life. A sleep is dangerous when the presence of God is absent. David reminds us that “In the presence of God, there is fullness of joy” (Psalm 16:11) but out of His presence, there is frustration, multiple demons, discouragement sorrow, fear, sickness, sin, suicide, distress etc… The closer you are to fire, the hotter you are; the farther you move away from fire, the colder you become. The closer you move to the Lord, the more of His presence you have and the farther you move away from Him, the closer you are to the devil.

How to continue in the presence of the lord

  • Do not joke with your quiet time: -You must plan to have a quiet time with the Lord daily and regularly, it is the time when you will pray meaningfully, study and memorize the word of God diligently. Daniel 6:7-10
  • Do not neglect the corporate fellowship/gatherings: – Do not be the Christian who misses services, Bible study, cell groups etc. Hebrew 10:25, Proverbs 27:17
  • Always hunger and thirst for God: – Live a yielded life unto God and always seek the things of the Lord. Psalm 63:1, Psalm 42:2
  • Follow a consistent program of prayer: – Prayer is the only open line that we have as Christians to talk to our father. Mark 1:35, Matthew 14:23
  • Learn to be intimate with the Holy Spirit: -Treat Him as a Person reverently, not as a thing. Learn to meet Him and commune with Him every day. Ephesians 5:15-18.

Prayer

I pray even as you finish reading this post, that you will be filled with the hunger and thirst to pursue the presence of God and prepare your heart and life to host and carry the presence of God with you always in Jesus’ name. Amen.
